Fat Pop's Guide To Pride 2019
Brighton is famous for many things. Breath-taking sea views, iconic British history, and seagulls large enough to kidnap small dogs. But if there is one thing that puts Brighton on the map every year, it is the Brighton Pride festival. And while every major city and town across the country puts on their own pride event, it is fair to say that no one does it quite like Brighton.
And while we will be kicking off things in our own way with Pride Pre-Party at Coalition for this week’s Friday I’m In Love, we thought we’d highlight some of the best bits about this year’s festivities to make sure you get the most out of Brighton Pride 2019.
It wouldn’t be Pride without the parade now would it? As a seminal part of any pride celebration, Brighton’s Pride Parade is honestly one of the very best. With outlandish costumes, stunning floats and an atmosphere that would make Glastonbury blush, Brighton’s Pride Parade is clearly a sight to behold. But be aware keen pride patrons, as this year’s parade will head through The Laines for the first time this year so make sure to check when and where this year’s route is before heading.
Pride Dog Show
That’s right! Pride isn’t just for humans anymore as this year at Preston Park will see the return of the Pride Dog Show. With categories that include Cutest Puppy, Waggiest Tail and, of course, Fancy Dress, this year’s show aims to bring even more fun and cuteness as it returns for 2019.
Kylie F’ing Minogue
And of course it wouldn’t be Pride without an icon of the LGBT music scene headlining the festivities. And this year it is none other than pint-sized superstar Kylie Minogue. She will top a bill that also includes Clean Bandit and Fleur East amongst many more, but be sure to catch us down the front grooving to the locomotion and spinning around. We may even find ourselves being pulled up on stage, if we are so lucky!
Be sure to grab your ticket for our Brighton Pride Pre-Party at Coalition on Friday 2nd August here.
Iconic as it is ironic - Secret Discotheque is the night that everyone in Brighton hates to love. It has a particular charm to it, we're scared to give the people what you want (what you really really want) and do it with pride! Read more...
